Feel like rubbing tanned shoulders with Miami’s A-list? Haad Rin, Koh Phangan, Thailand

The biggest party in Koh Phangan is also the biggest party in South East Asia. It is the Full Moon Party on Haad Rin beach. The party not only takes over the whole beach but also the town of Haad Rin. If you arrive in Haad Rin on the night of the party it costs 100 Thai Baht ($3) to get in. If you stay in Haad Rin it is free. You have to book Haad Rin accommodation in advance as 20,000 people go to the party but the town only has a capacity to accommodate about 5,000 people. There are several different musical styles at the various bars such as psy-trance, house, drum and bass and chart music. The Full Moon Party is unlike any other party in the world.(link)

Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Copacabana is a great, lively beach of course but is also well known for its spectacular New Year’s Eve celebrations. Free concerts are held and it’s essentially one big beach party which regularly attracts millions of revelers. The fireworks display is particularly notable and ranks up with the celebrations in Sydney, London, Paris and other major cities on New Year’s Eve.(link)
